Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, English, journalism or a field related to grantsmanship and research

  • 3+ years of full-time employment leading scientific and/or social scientific grant proposal development activities with university faculty and staff

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience writing successful grant proposals with faculty from multiple disciplines

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously to meet grant submission timelines and achieve program goals

  • Broad knowledge about a wide range of sponsors, foundations, and funding agencies relevant to THRC investigators

  • Basic knowledge about various research methods and approaches to research

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment with projects that can involve leadership and/or followership roles

  • Ability to complete projects successfully, meeting all assigned deadlines

  • Excellent skills to produce professional products using Word, Excel, Teams, and other Microsoft Office products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience translating research publications and grants into products written for public audiences

  • Experience writing technical reports and papers based on research

Job Description

Responsible for writing and submitting high-quality grant proposals and technical reports

Job Duties

  • Identify and share state, federal, and foundation funding opportunities that align with the mission and goals of THRC

  • Lead grant production writing and/or editing in collaboration with individual investigators, research teams, and Translational Health Research Center community partners.

  • Create ongoing skill development opportunities, training programs, and/or online resources to assist prospective grant PIs at Texas State

  • Serve as the primary resource for current information about federal and state grant regulations and guidelines for all THRC funded programs.

  • Locate and share relevant funding opportunities from a variety of sources with multidisciplinary THRC investigators

  • Demonstrate primary contributions to an increasing number of successful THRC grant proposals each year

  • Write technical reports published by THRC to share research outcomes with public audiences
