Position Overview

Would you like to purchase the highest quality materials at the lowest possible cost for Kiewit’s Northern California District? What about negotiate, renegotiate, and administer agreements with suppliers, vendors and other representatives? Individuals with experience in an engineering and/or construction related role as well as basic procurement experience is desired, but not required.

We’re looking for a team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives. Someone that is detail-oriented, highly motivated with ability to effectively manage time will do well in this position. This role is on a contractual basis until the end of 2025, with the possibility of extension.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Northern California District is one of Kiewit’s leading infrastructure districts specializing in various types of work in the heavy civil, power, transportation, and water resource markets. Although most of our work is regionally based in Northern California, we also pursue various projects across the west coast. Our Northern California district has been extremely successful and have over $600 million dollars of work and plan to grow this region by $200 million in 2022. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry and seek a long-term career.

Location

This role will be located in-person in the San Jose, CA area.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer vendor agreements with suppliers, vendors and other representatives.

  • Purchase the highest quality materials at the lowest possible cost in correct amounts per specifications and drawings.

  • Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance and inventories.

  • Train operations staff on purchasing guidelines and assist with purchase orders.

  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, sustainability, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities and the supplier’s reputation and history.

  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and determine needs for changes.

  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, construction management or related degree preferred.

  • 0-3 years’ experience in an engineering and/or construction related role preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel).

  • General knowledge of database utilization.

  • SAP Experience a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of all areas of procurement, including procurement execution, estimating, expediting, offsite supplier quality and site purchasing preferred.

Base Compensation: $73,000 - $88,000

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
