Our client is a hedge fund that offers services to private investment funds. Specializing in hedge fund management, they launch and oversees various funds. The company's investment focus spans global public equity markets, with additional ventures into derivatives and options. Its primary investment strategy revolves around value stocks of various companies.

The Fund Accountant will play a vital role within the accounting department, contributing to the firm's financial reporting and accounting activities. This position involves close collaboration with the middle office, compliance, and investor relations teams, as well as coordination with external entities like the fund administrator and auditor.

Responsibilities include:

• Reconcile profit and loss (PNL) statements between in-house records and those of the fund administrator, collaborating with the middle office and fund administrator to resolve discrepancies.

• Collaborate with the accounting team to facilitate year-end audit, tax, and financial statement preparations.

• Independently engage with external service providers, such as auditors and fund administrators.

• Generate weekly and monthly internal profit and loss return reports.

• Oversee monthly net asset value (NAV) closing process, reviewing reconciliation schedules and investor allocation sheets prepared by the fund administrator.

• Calculate tax estimates for 1256 PNL and unrelated business taxable income (UBTI).

• Prepare quarterly regulatory filings for Forms PF and PQR.

• Provide support to investor relations (IR) team regarding investor inquiries.

• Review wires and ACH payments for accuracy and compliance.

• Assist the accounting team with ad hoc requests and special projects as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of accounting experience in the following categories with exposure/understanding of Options, futures, swaps, derivatives:

• Fund admin with hedge fund clients

• Straight out of public TAX with hedge fund clients – 2nd choice

• This position reports to the CFO but will also work cross functionally with traders, middle office analysts, etc.

• CPA would be a plus

• Work Market hours: 7:00am-3:00pm; flexible to be 8-4pm as well
