Robert Half Payroll Supervisor in San Diego, California

Description

Robert Half is partnered with a national construction firm that is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to join their San Diego based team. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the payroll department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, and liaising with various departments such as HR, Accounting, Labor Compliance, IT, and Operations.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and assist in-house multi-state weekly payroll processing for a large number of employees across multiple companies.

• Manage the weekly processing of payroll for the non-exempt group of employees.

• Identify functional issues, analyze potential solutions, and implement system resolutions.

• Manage weekly processing workflows to ensure accuracy and timeliness of all payroll transactions.

• Supervise payroll staff through workload management, coaching, and development, providing payroll assistance as needed.

• Maintain the quality, efficiency, and overall effectiveness of the payroll processing functions by adhering to standard processes.

• Handle Garnishments, Employment Verifications, and New Hire reporting.

• Audit Employee status updates in our ERP.

• Assist with various state and federal payroll tax filings and payroll tax account reconciliations.

• Ensure employee terminations are processed timely and accurately in accordance with Federal and State Laws.

• Assist with ACH and positive pay file uploads to the bank.

• Work directly with the Payroll Manager and Controller on special projects and audits.

Requirements

• Must possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in a Payroll experience

• Must possess some management experience, even if it was a small team

• Familiarity with UKG software is a plus

• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred

• Professional certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is an advantage, but not a requirement
