Job Description Summary

The Material Handler III acts as a key partner to Logistics/Distribution, Planning and other BD plants by managing all inbound stock transport orders, procured materials and finished goods inventory. The partner will drive inventory accuracy with routine cycle counts and discrepancy investigation in-line with documented processes. The Material Handler III will initiate warehouse improvements as well as consistent review of the systematic warehouse, ensuring accurate inventories in line with overall business expectations. The partner will develop process improvement recommendations as necessary and input daily dashboard metrics as required. Responsibilities

• Maintain inventories and integrity of paper and electronic records. Investigates problems, finds root causes, and develops solutions.

• Receive, accurately, all inbound materials within the acceptable time frame set by the business.

• Communicate discrepancies with leadership, investigate issues as necessary.

• Conduct cycle counts of finished goods inventories under control of the warehouse. Assist in investigations of all material discrepancies that are outside of preset tolerances.

• Assist with the implementation of all new and current department policies and procedures.

• Participate in all current departmental processes and make recommendations for improvement.

• Follows BD Biosciences Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures. Takes responsibility for safety in immediate work area. Participates in EH&S programs.

• Notifies supervisors of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment.

• May be required to prepare, coordinate, and execute final shipments for domestic or international.

• Handle material for inbound or outbound based on business needs.

• Other duties as required.

• To ensure the cleanliness of the facility, follow guidelines as outlined.

• The associate must maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area at all times.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, Minimum 2 years’ experience in an inventory management/shipping/manufacturing environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

• Familiarity with logistics, and distribution planning concepts

• Ability to work cross-functionally, with individuals at different organizational levels

• Business acumen to recognize relevant data and variation.

• Previous ERP experience required. SAP preferred.

• Solid verbal and written communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret distribution documents.

• Strong interpersonal skills, as much work is cross-functional within the company.

• Ability to work under minimal supervision and be self-directed.

• Forklift Certification preferred.

• Basic analytical, organizational and prioritization skills.

• Knowledge/Experience in Cold Chain preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds unassisted.

Work Environment:

• Work environment encompassing warehouse facilities, including cold storage area.
