UnitedHealth Group Senior Business Process Analyst - Remote in San Antonio, Texas

The Senior Business Process Analyst will develop ongoing root cause analysis and business case impact in order to drive business strategy and decisions. They will provide the leadership, vision, and strategic focus on process improvement initiatives. The Senior Business Process Analyst will apply improvement principles and standards to enhance business operations in a wide variety of business units within Enterprise Care and Value. This individual will also develop standard work and operating procedures throughout these areas. The Business Process Analyst will utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies in order to enhance process performance, efficiency, and process consistency. They are expected to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and participates in process improvement projects as assigned for strategic initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for end-to-end business process activities- creating, controlling and improving business processes

  • Leads a collaborative group of functional leads to document and analyze business processes and make recommendations on to improve performance and close gaps throughout the enterprise

  • Conducts focus groups, process observation, and time and motion studies as necessary

  • Analyzes processes and presents findings and makes recommendations to functional leads to develop or improve processes, products, services and/or programs to support the overarching goals of the enterprise

  • Leads enterprise projects and initiatives including but not limited to creating and maintaining project schedules, developing project plans and specifications

  • Conducts root cause analyses using proven tools and techniques

  • Meets with project team regularly to review project deliverables and deadlines

  • Meets with appropriate personnel for periodic review of prototypes and final products

  • Responsible for developing and updating various types of project documentation: i.e., project charters, communication plans, project schedules, issue logs, etc.

  • Responsible for documenting and updating changes to workflow, training plans, policies and procedures

  • Consistently demonstrates and injects their knowledge and abilities to lead initiatives utilizing Six Sigma and/or Lean methodologies

  • Works closely with cross-functional business partners enterprise-wide to identify and maximize opportunities to use information and technology to improve product, service and/or business processes

  • Communicates and provides reports to key stakeholders to ensure projects are aligned with the goals and objectives of the business

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of business analysis experience with tracking, planning projects, and making data-driven analytical decisions

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Advanced knowledge with process mapping methodologies

  • Ability to communicate analysis including trends and opportunities to clients and the business in writing and verbally

  • Ability to problem solve including multiple priorities and research conflicting and/or inaccurate data

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP, CAPM

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification

  • Experience with Visio

  • Health plan, healthcare or clinic operations experience

  • Advanced level problem solving capabilities needed to identify issues, and to work on solution designs related to process, and data

  • Ability to influence group relationships with diverse geographic locations, skills and level of understanding of company processes and policy

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and complete complex work efforts to meet established objectives

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
