Position Summary

As an Associate Business Systems Analyst within the Finance IT – Risk Management team, you will have the opportunity to gain exposure and add value to various risk management related functions within MPC, including our Enterprise Risk Management, Audit Assurance & Advisory Services, SOX, and Compliance functions. Other focused areas of risk within larger MPC functions are also in scope for the IT Risk Management team and include areas such as credit risk evaluation, supplier risk evaluation, and centralized organizational and financial, policy-driven authority management. The team operates in a cross-functional manner leveraging an agile methodology for work management.

This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in the definition of business processes in order to measure, analyze, improve and control the process being reviewed.

  • Works closely with the business and development teams to gain an understanding of business partners functional and non-functional requirements, provide feedback, and communicate changes.

  • Analyzes and documents business and user requirements, creating documentation of functional requirements specifications.

  • Applies understanding of systems and technologies to draft recommendations for appropriate systems alternatives and/or enhancements to current systems.

  • Assists with the continuous iterative exploration and investigation of business performance and other measures to gain insight and drive business planning.

  • Understands and assists in cost-benefit analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and document knowledge for Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

  • Understands and executes the basic IT service management practices around incident, Change, Problem and Solution Development Lifecycle (SDLC) delivery methodologies including basic configuration tasks.

  • Assists in the analysis of test case development and execution in support of technology delivery.

  • Assists in the planning, conducting and documenting of user stories, user feedback, supporting development of prototypes and wireframes.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems preferred, related field or equivalent experience.

  • 0-3 years of relevant IT experience

  • Agile Methodologies – Agile project management is an iterative approach to delivering a project throughout its life cycle, taking incremental steps towards the completion of a project.

  • Business Process Modeling & Redesign - Execution of key business process with the objective of achieving a quantum jump in performance measures such as return on investment (ROI), cost reduction, and quality of service.

  • Change Management – The process of controlled identification, planning and implementation of required initiatives to prepare, support and help individuals, teams and organizations to navigate through change.

  • Communication & Collaboration – Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders, gather requirements, present architectural proposals, and collaborate with cross functional teams.

  • Continuous Improvement - An ongoing effort to evaluate and improve products, services, or processes through incremental and breakthrough improvements.

  • Incident Management – Ensuring that any incidents affecting processes and performances of relevant technology services or systems are managed appropriately to mitigate risk and minimize disruption.

  • Innovation Management –The process of taking innovative ideas from their inception to implementation.

  • IT Risk Management – The development of policies, procedures, and technologies to mitigate threats from malicious actors and reduce information technology vulnerabilities.

  • Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking – Strong problem-solving skills to identify architectural challenges, analyze requirements, evaluate options, and propose effective solutions.

  • Process Automation – Also known as business automation or digital transformation, this is the technology enabled automation of complex business processes. It can streamline a business for simplicity, achieve digital transformation, increase service quality, improve service delivery or contain costs. It consists of integrating applications, restructuring labor resources and using software applications throughout the organization.

  • Product Development - The creation, innovation, enhancement or improvement of an existing product, or developing an entirely new kind of product to satisfy the requirements of its end users.

  • Quality Assurance Management – The process to ensure organizational activities are designed to ensure that an organization is providing the best possible product or service to customers.

  • Requirements Management - The process of documenting, analyzing, tracing, prioritizing and agreeing on requirements and then controlling change while also communicating to relevant stakeholders.

  • Solution Design –The process to translate high level technical requirements into alternative design solutions.

  • Specifications Development - Understanding the context, stakeholders and requirements or features of a product or application and detailing the specifications around them.

  • Systems Design – The process of designing technical solutions and systems to meet specified business and user requirements that are compatible with established system architectures, as well as organizational and performance standards.

  • Technology Advising/Consulting – Translates business needs into enterprise/IT product solutions; partnering with the business by guiding management on future uses of technology and educates on IT solutions and initiatives.

  • Vendor Management - The process to maintain relationships with key vendors that deliver products, services, and support to the business. Simultaneously, negotiating and managing contracts with key service providers to ensure service levels are set appropriately and met on an ongoing basis.
