JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Public Services Director performs maintenance and repairs on buildings and grounds for City of Holladay. On-the-job training is provided. Candidate must be 18 or older.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1.   Performs daily inspection of buildings and grounds for appearance and safety;

2.   Under general supervision performs routine maintenance of City facilities; mows lawns, trims, edges, water lawns and gardens, sprinkler repairs, removes snow on sidewalks and parking lots;

3.   Removes snow on sidewalks and parking lots;

4.   Sets up table/chairs and other preparation for various meetings;

5.   Set up and take down for City events as needed;

6.   Maintains lawn equipment;

7.   Building maintenance;

8.   Maintains Upper Canal grates as needed;

9.   Hang banners outside on poles;

10.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1.   Graduation from High School or GED plus two (2) years of general work experience in the above-related job duties and must be 18 years or older

 

2.   Special Qualifications:

a.   Must possess and maintain a valid Utah Driver's License with periodic verification by the city;

b.   Must be available for emergency call-out during severe snow and rainstorms.

3.   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

a.   Knowledge of routine servicing of motor and mechanical equipment such as line trimmers, lawn mowers, snow blowers, heating, and air conditioning units. Working knowledge of painting techniques;

b.   Skills to operate lawnmowers, snow blowers and other building and ground maintenance equipment;

c.   Ability to endure physical stress and work in outdoor weather conditions. Ability to lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1.   Incumbent of the position performs a variety of physical activities and heavy lifting;

2.   Working in inclement weather and some muscular strain;

3.   Tasks require variety of physical activities and require frequent walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and seeing;

4.   Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required for many tasks;

5.   Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability and discriminating thinking and guided problem solving;
