Research Track Faculty PositionRank Dependent on QualificationsThe University of Utah College of Nursing (CON) seeks research scientists in nursing or a related field whose research inquiry and/or training has incorporated the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, natural language processing, and/or analysis of large data sets in a health sciences setting, to serve as a nursing science faculty member focused on the development of their own extramurally funded research program, and to participate in collaborative team science with other CON faculty, post-doctoral trainees, and students. Familiarity with, and experience using, R, Python, SQL querying, or similar is needed for this position, along with a history of predictive modeling (supervised/unsupervised learning techniques). This is a full-time career-line (Research Track) faculty position. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The Data Exploration and Learning for Precision Health Intelligence (DELPHI) Initiative aims to drive innovation in health and medicine by catalyzing biomedical data science research. Specifically, the DELPHI initiative aims to expand data science expertise to accelerate scientific discovery and implementation through key efforts to build community, catalyze research, increase national distinction, facilitate recruitment, and enhance education.Principal Functions and Responsibilities: The CON seeks an individual with a growing program of research; with expertise in research design, methodology, and analysis; with team science skills to join CON research programs; and dedication to developing a sustained program of extramurally funded research. As a member of the Emma Eccles Jones Nursing Research Center, responsibilities may also include limited classroom and/or online didactic teaching, supervision of students, and consultation. This position will serve as the CON liaison to central data warehouses at the University of Utah and seek collaborative opportunities to participate in the Universitys Responsible AI Initiative (U-RAI), as well as other data science initiatives on campus. Other faculty expectations include University, local, regional, and/or national professional activities/service in a focused area of research.Criteria: Candidates must have an earned research doctorate and post-doctoral training in nursing or a related field. Candidates research inquiry or training must have incorporated the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, natural language processing, and/or analysis of large data sets. Candidates should have early evidence of scholarly publications in refereed journals and demonstrated research focus and trajectory for extramural funding. Teaching and course development experience is desirable but not required. The ability to work effectively with faculty and students is essential.
