Clinic responsibilities will be primarily on the U of U campus but may also be required at other U of U affiliated facilities in the Salt Lake City area.

Responsibilities

  • Inpatient care responsibilities include rounding and managing patients on the surgical floor in coordination with the surgical team including attending surgeons, residents, and medical students. Specific tasks include but are not limited to: responding to nursing pages and concerns, coordinating discharge planning with case management staff, and completing required medical documentation.

  • Outpatient clinic responsibilities include the evaluation and management of new and established patients within the specialty of colon and rectal surgery. Specific possibilities for clinics include but are not limited to colorectal cancer surveillance, anal dysplasia, and the management of benign anorectal conditions. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: addressing outpatient questions/ concerns and coordinating outpatient care with other specialists.

  • This position will also assist in the design and implementation of care pathways for both inpatient and outpatient encounters specific to their services. Opportunities exist for involvement in the education of PA students. There are also options for research as well.

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.

Preferred

  • Certification in ACLS / BLS / NRP / ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.

  • Utah State prescriptive privileges.

Licensure is obtained by completing a Master’s degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master’s degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.

UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
