Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects and communicates them to internal and external customers. Defines, develops, and transfers manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies, and systems. Develops manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes. Actively participates with engineering project teams in order to coordinate the release of new products. Estimates and tracks manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Review design requirements, drawings, and parts lists for manufacturability

  • Create processes to meet design and workmanship requirements

  • Evaluate tooling needs and availability

  • Assists Cable manufacturing’s First Time Build team in building initial unit builds and prototype cable assemblies; updated processes as needed

  • Reviews problem reports; make improvements and corrections to process as warranted

  • Provide input on Engineering Changes Requests; implement changes into processes

  • Determine root cause of failures and drive corrective actions

  • Collects and analyzes quality related data and offers corrective action(s) to help eliminate future defects from occurring

  • Participates in process improvement activities

  • Writes and updates workmanship standards

  • Provide input on engineering specifications

  • Support OT (nights, weekends, extended hours) as needed to meet schedule requirements

  • Ensures company financial goals are met through timely completion of processes, projects, and other initiatives

  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years relevant experience required, or Graduate Degree and 2 years relevant experience. Strong preference given to degree from an accredited school in a technical discipline (such as Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.)

  • Extensive knowledge of cable manufacturing techniques and IPC/WHMA-A-620, class 3 workmanship requirements.

  • Advanced technical and operational knowledge and experience of manufacturing of highly technical devices.

  • Experience with SAP ME, SAP ECC and Teamcenter.

  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend schematics, wire lists, wire diagrams, and blueprints.

  • Due to the nature of our work, this position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance.
