Job Summary

The Digital Sign Technician supports digital signage across campus as well as audio-visual equipment and office computers. This position will be responsible to ensure uptime, visual appeal, and proper functionality of all equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Digital Signs – Maintain all University Broadcast Network-supported digital signs (both outdoor and indoor). This includes troubleshooting, cleaning, managing software and hardware, training users, and monitoring all signs. Additional duties as assigned.

  • Keep a current inventory of all digital signs and equipment.

  • Work with leadership to make recommendations regarding repairing, replacing, or growing equipment inventory.

  • Provide images of live ads for client reporting.

  • Be available for department events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a current University of Utah student.

  • A valid driver’s license is required to be able to drive fleet vehicles and golf carts.

  • Must be able to work in a team and individual environment and clearly take direction.

  • Strong experience with computers and troubleshooting.

  • Must be able to lift heavy objects. This can include lifting screens, tools, and other event items.

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

  • Must be punctual and have good communication skills.

  • Work schedule must be flexible for sign emergencies and events. This can include evenings and weekends.

Preferences

Department desires applicants with strong computer experience. Prior experience with digital signage, software networks, and Android operating systems is beneficial. Qualified applicants will know how to use the equipment, train others, make recommendations for repair and/or replacement, etc. Prior tech support experience is beneficial. Ability to work with computers (troubleshooting, software installation, etc) preferred. A qualified student will also be physically able to lift and move heavy equipment and have good customer service skills.
