Applicants should have an M.D. or an M.D., Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated research accomplishment in clinical and/or translational sciences. Applicants must be ABIM certified and must be board certified or board eligible in Endocrinology and eligible for a Utah Medical License.

Candidates should have experience in pursuing independent research. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong track record in their area of expertise, as evidenced by first or senior author scientific publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, conference presentations, a history of successful program building, and recognition in the national and international diabetes and metabolism community. Successful candidates will be appointed at a faculty rank and salary appropriate for his/her qualifications. Successful candidates will develop an independent, extramurally funded research program.

New recruits will maintain a primary appointment in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes while having membership in the institution’s Diabetes and Metabolism Research Center ( DMRC ). The interdisciplinary DMRC strives to unify and enhance efforts of clinicians, researchers, and educators to catalyze innovative research relating to diabetes and metabolic health throughout Utah and the Intermountain West. The center comprises more than 100 faculty across multiple schools, colleges, and departments and supports researchers through the recruitment of research-intensive faculty, distribution of pilot grants, organization of symposia and seminars, and management of training grants. The successful applicant will also have access to outstanding research services (e.g. Utah Population Database, Center for Clinical & Translational Science, etc.), access to clinical data from the University of Utah Comprehensive Weight Management Program and Utah Diabetes and Endocrinology Center, and the ability to leverage resources from the Driving Out Diabetes initiative, a strategic initiative to reduce the burden of diabetes and the associated medical comorbidities of obesity and heart disease through clinical, research, and community engagement programs.
