WorkSource Oregon Welder/Fabricator in SALEM, Oregon

The person in this position fabricates and installs miscellaneous metals, specifically ornamental iron. Minimum requirements: - High school diploma or G.E.D. - Minimum one (1) year experience with fabricating miscellaneous metals - Welding certification - Valid Driver\'s license to operate company vehicles Job Duties: - Interact with other employees in regards to fabrication of ornamental iron - Read blueprint or CADD drawings and fabricate to specifications - Take measurements and perform job layout as required - Comply with all applicable safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards to appropriate person - Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area - Perform set-up duties in accordance with production schedule and duties (i.e. help load and get things ready for next day activities) - Meet established performance standards to ensure production schedules are met - Ensure that products and systems meet company quality specifications - Lift up to 50 pounds; more with assistance - Perform rotational assignments including grinding, wire wheeling, part cutting, welding, spot-welding, painting, installation and other duties as assigned Work Environment: -Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm -Push production materials and wheeled carts -Frequently sit and stand, climb (including ladders) as required by the process. Occasionally kneel, crouch, stoop -Job duties are performed indoors under noise levels exceeding 85 db, with potential hazards, including: electrical shock, burns, pinching, crushing, cuts, abrasions, fumes, electromagnetic radiation, and solvents Employer Notes: - Employer conducts drug test, background check and DMV records check prior to first day of employment -Ideal candidate will be able to fabricate using blueprint, will be self-motivated, demonstrate awareness and concentration while performing welding/fabricating techniques. In addition will have excellent communication skills and be willing to learn - There is an opportunity for advancement Various equipment - Mig, tig, and arc welder - Materials handling equipment; pallet jack, lift truck, etc. - Safety equipment: safety glasses, hearing protection, protective clothing, etc. - Hand tools: buffers, grinders, sanders, etc. - Measurement tools: calipers, scales, laser levels - Fixtures, telephone, computer
