Covenant HealthCare US:MI:SAGINAW DAY SHIFT FULL TIME BENEFITED Summary: The Staff Pharmacist demonstrates excellent customer service in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission, and Values of Covenant Healthcare and our commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. The staff pharmacist enters or verifies orders in the computer, compounds, and dispenses pharmaceutical preparations according to authorized prescriptions for our patient population. Monitors work of the Pharmacy technician to ensure accuracy, conformity, and timeliness of pharmaceutical preparations. Consults with nursing, physicians, patients and the public as necessary regarding proper medication use and dosage, potential side effects, and adverse drug reactions. Provides Pharmacy services to patients of all ages. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities: Contributes to organization success targets for net operating margin. Participates in cost containment efforts through efficient use of supplies, services, and time management. Adheres to unit/department budgetary practices. Remains flexible and provides cooperation with 24-hour staffing requirements as required to provide care to our patients. Follows all Covenant Healthcare policies in regards to attendance, punctuality, and break times. Communicates with all customers (nurses, physicians, patients etc.) in a professional, therapeutic, and courteous manner. Has the necessary Pharmacist clinical and distribution skills necessary to provide safe, efficient, and effective pharmaceutical care to our patients according to the guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare and the Pharmacy Department. Collaborates effectively with all health care disciplines to facilitate patient outcomes based on safe Pharmacy practice. Enters or verifies medication orders efficiently utilizing the EPIC computer application taking care to clarify any questionable, inaccurate, or incomplete orders as necessary. Ability to provide at least initial dosing on consults generated to Pharmacy by physicians for areas including but not limited to antibiotics, pain medications, IV anticoagulation. Checks and monitors the work of the technician in the preparation and dispensing of all pharmaceuticals before they leave the department. This includes but is not limited to: Patient non IV admixture medications IV admixtures and TPN compounding Stock and replenishment orders for the units including verifying controlled substance inventory. Prepacking of non-unit dose bulk items. Kits used in anesthesia. EMS kits and boxes Assist the purchasing technicians as required to obtain and maintain inventory of needed pharmaceuticals. The compounding of all extemporaneous pharmaceuticals for which it is appropriate for pharmacist preparation (e.g. cardioplegics) or lack of trained personnel present. Chemotherapy preparations and TPN compounding as required Actively participates in quality management including the documentation of pharmacy interventions and Simplifi. Updates and maintains knowledge, skills and competencies related to area of practice and ages of patient population. Participates in unit meetings and activities which support unit function and the overall goals of the organization. Other duties as assigned.

Other information: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited school of Pharmacy Registered pharmacist with current licensure in the State of Michigan. Attends in-service programs and continuing education activities to meet the organization's expectations. Minimum of one year of hospital pharmacy
