The General Manager position fills an important leadership role for Optum Infusion Services, where we offer high-touch clinical management programs for patients living with high-cost chronic diseases and are focused on enhancing quality of life while reducing costs for clients - helping to engage patients and provide better health outcomes. As a General Manager you will be responsible for our Sacramento and Hayward branches, providing leadership and operational guidance to a variety of professionals, including registered nurses, home infusion pharmacists and patient care coordinators. This role requires someone who can succeed in influencing others and managing in a matrixed business environment. It requires the right blend of clinical experience (pharmacist or registered nurse), administrative experience, financial experience, and operational experience. You will be responsible for the overall quality of products and services provided, and tasked to improve efficiencies, reduce costs, improve sustainability and maximize profitability within the operation. Relocation may be covered for a stellar candidate.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for driving the branch to achieve and surpass productivity, profitability, cash flow and business goals & objectives

  • Responsible for and overseeing the delivery of care to all patients served by branch

  • Represents the organization with all referral sources, physicians, and the community on an as-needed basis in conjunction with other internal clinical and Sales resources

  • Communicates as needed with appropriate Corporate leadership concerning new developments and/or problems within the local branch and/or market

  • Provides guidance and leadership through direct and indirect management of Intake, Nursing, and Pharmacy as a cohesive process of patient care

  • Directly manages clinical & operational functions to ensure smooth daily operations and continuous improvement in patient care (including direct patient care as a clinician, where appropriate)

  • Creates, manages, coordinates and executes all operational strategies and implements tactical plans for the branch that meet and exceed company expectations

  • In partnership with RVP, directs short-term and long-range planning and budget development for the branch to support strategic business goals

  • Oversee reporting and monitoring of branch performance metrics

  • Accountable for compliance with state and federal Pharmacy & Nursing regulations for branch location

  • Participates in the interviewing, hiring, training, and firing of employees

  • Participates in business development activities to support development of functional, efficient, and patient-oriented programs for the branch

Required Qualifications:

  • Active Pharmacist or Registered Nurse License, in good standing, in the state of California; or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire

  • 5+ years of leadership experience

  • 3+ years of experience in the home infusion business or related business

  • Demonstrated solid working knowledge of pharmacy, nursing, budgeting, sales, business development, and strategic planning in healthcare

  • Proven intermediate or higher level of proficiency working with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Proven excellent communication, time/project management, problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills

  • Proven excellent leadership practices of being customer centric, cultivating team engagement, facilitating execution plans, creating high-performing teams, communicating enterprise purpose, managing team structures, operations and processes, resilience and resourcefulness, and managing team boundaries

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies

  • Proven track record of performance excellence meeting targets and objectives; the ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes

  • Possess a solid patient service orientation; a passion for and commitment to a consumer and client driven culture

  • Demonstrated respectful and outstanding leadership skills that motivates staff to exceed expectations

  • Ability to articulate a vision and strategy in a way that inspires and motivates a team and focuses their energy on achieving business goals

  • Proven ability to lead a proactive clinical & sales organization and ensure accountability for results that maximize contribution to business objectives

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
