Labcorp Molecular Genetics Team Lead in RTP, North Carolina

If so, LabCorp wants to speak with you about exciting opportunities to join our team as a Molecular Genetics Team Lead in RTP, NC! The Team Lead will coordinate the work of other Technologists. In addition to performing the functions of Senior Technologist, this level is responsible for assigning and reviewing work, administering the quality control program, ensuring that schedule time frames are met, advising management of problem areas, assisting in employee actions, acting as liaison with other departments and customers on technical inquiries and test results. In this position you will work in a fast paced, customer focused, and challenging environment, and will be a part of our overall mission at LabCorp: "Improving Health, Improving Lives".

The work schedule for this position will be : 3rd Shift, Monday-Friday 11:00pm-7:30am.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Verifies proper and consistent identification of specimens prior to and during all accessioning and processing steps. Provides guidance and troubleshooting for any specimen concerns.

  • Investigates discrepancies and documents action taken and notifies Supervisor or Lab Manager as needed.

  • Operates assigned instruments in order to perform assigned duties.

  • Routinely performs specimen setup, instrument operations.

  • Performs moderate to high complexity analyses and interpretations.

  • Uses test result abbreviations appropriately.

  • Actively seeks assistance with high complexity analyses.

  • Tests specimens completely, accurately and within established time frames and notifies management of any delays.

  • Maintains records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.

  • Makes recommendation regarding staffing needs to supervisor.

  • Identify and address problems with reagents, equipment, processes.

  • Recognizes and addresses difficult cases that require timely consultation with a director.

  • Serves as competent trainer of personnel.

  • Participates in validating and/or writing test procedures.

  • Evaluates new procedures or methods, while maintaining open lines of communication with employees to ensure that they are kept up to date with procedures and information.

  • Acts as a liaison with other departments and vendors on technical inquiries and test results.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Biology, Chemistry, or related Life Science required.

  • 5 yrs of clinical lab testing experience with human specimens required; 7 yrs preferred.

  • Hamilton or Tecan liquid handler experience is preferred.
