Position Summary

Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office.The goal of this team member is to provide exceptional patient care by assisting in the delivery of medical care with compassion, efficiency, and accuracy.

Reports to:Department Manager

Responsibilities of the Position:

• Triage incoming patients; perform CPR and other emergency measures, if necessary.
• Escort patients to exam rooms; take histories and vital signs, prepare patients for examination.
• Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
• Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
• Assists providers in examinations and treatments of patients, minor surgeries, and physicals.
• Stock and set-up exam rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Performs phlebotomy and IV treatments in accordance with training and provider direction.
• Processes referral and prior authorization requests in accordance with company protocol.
• Utilizes electronic medical software to record patient information in compliance with HIPAA /confidentiality guidelines.
• Dispenses medication as directed by providers.
• Collects and processes lab specimens.
• Performs glucose monitoring.
• Provides wound care and perform suture removal as directed by providers.
• Communicates with the patient, pharmacy, and physician inquiries within the scope of the practice; involve provider as needed.
• Performs accurate and timely input of data into EMR and Clockwise.
• Starts peripheral IVs and administers IV fluids.
• Calculates drug dosages; administers limited IV medications as trained and under the direction of the provider.
• Administers IM, SQ, and oral medications as trained under the direction of the provider.
• Administers aerosol treatments.
• Apply splints and dressings.
• Obtains and maintains emergency airways.
• Administers oxygen therapy.
• Performs urine, saliva, hair, and breath alcohol drug screens after successful completion of drug screen training provided by a certified instructor chosen by MedAccess.
• Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Proof of successful completion of training by an accredited paramedic training program or a paramedic certification is required.

Certifications/Licenses

Basic Life Support (BLS) is required through American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of hire.

Completion of ACLS and PALS certification.

Minimum Work Experience

Three years of clinical experience and demonstrated skills.
