Sr. Electrical Engineer – Controls Engineer (P3)

Position Summary : The Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) of the University of Rochester is a unique national resource for research and education in science and technology focusing on using lasers to initiate fusion and high energy density physics.

The LLE Electronics and Controls Engineering group is seeking an experienced controls engineer.

The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of controls and automation experience or equivalent training and experience.

Requirements include the ability to demonstrate a theoretical and hands-on knowledge of the following:

• Design, assembly, documentation, testing and troubleshooting custom control systems

• PLC programming utilizing ladder logic programming

• Fail-safe methods employed in system design

• High level troubleshooting skills

Desired skills or experience includes:

• Experience with Allen-Bradley or GE/Emerson PLCs

• Strong documentation skills

• Attention to detail

• Curiosity and a desire to learn new concepts, skills, and techniques

Pay Range

Pay Range: $84,718 - $127,088 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
