University of Rochester Secretary III in Rochester, New York

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Primary responsibility is provision of clerical support of the staff. With general direction and latitude for initiative and judgement, performs routine and non-routine duties requiring advanced secretarial or word processing skills and proficiency in an administrative office of an academic, medical service, business or comparable department. Is responsible for assignment and review of daily clerical word processing office operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Back-Up Registration: Cover registration window on a regular basis, approximately 2-3 hours per day, as needed. Provides back-up coverage for lunches and as staff patterns dictate for registration including helping with refiling, copying, faxing and wrapping of specimens.

  • Medical Records: Assembles new patient charts and prepares charts for RN review each afternoon. Responsible for filing of medical records each day after chart reviews, test results posted, etc. Maintains confidentiality of medical records and Article 28 medical record standards.

  • Performs secretarial and word processing duties for all STD staff, including the typing and distributing of clinic team meeting minutes as well as assisting staff with copier and fax machine problems. Other projects as assigned. Materials Supplies Maintenance: Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of office supplies, clinic supplies, medical supplies, and clinic forms by performing monthly inventory checks and ordering supplies in advance to avoid running out of things.

  • Phone Calls: Answers all incoming phone calls and forwards to appropriate staff or answer patients’ questions appropriately.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree required.

  • 2-3 years experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • MS Word, Attention to detail, interpersonal, and communication skills both verbal and written preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $ 15.38 - $ 21.54 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
