University of Rochester Director, Nursing Learn & Dev in Rochester, New York

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Organizes, implements, monitors, controls, and evaluates the professional practice and accreditation programs of nursing practice in alignment with the general nursing practice philosophy, strategic objectives, and mission. Provides oversight and strategic direction for the Learning & Development Continuing Professional Development and Accreditation service line, including large scale programs such as Certification, Nursing Career Pathways, Nursing Leadership Institute, Nurse Residency Accreditation, Continuing Nursing Education Accreditation, Shared Governance, and Magnet Accreditation.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintains accountability for the oversight of program accreditation execution, planning, implementation, and evaluation of applicable timelines in alignment with strategic initiatives of Nursing and Learning & Development. Supports the ongoing enculturation of ANCC Accreditation elements and standards in the Nursing Professional Practice arena.

  2. Guides, directs, and supports program coordinators, managers and staff in the organization, implementation, monitoring, control and evaluation of daily operations within the service line. Oversees daily planning, monitoring, and control of department budgets associated with program oversight, including staff resources.

  3. Works to align service line specific goals with strategic initiatives for Nursing Practice, Medical Center, UR Medicine and the University.

  4. Serves as coach, mentor, and advocate for a diverse team of Nursing Professional Development Practitioners and Specialists. Directs and guides in the execution of personnel functions and ensures that personnel actions comply with University policies and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Nursing or related discipline required;

  • Doctorate preferred. 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with progressive leadership experience in nursing administration, education, or professional practice required;

  • Experience with nursing accreditation programs preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail, ability to develop critical thinking skills, and creative solutions to complex problems;

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, including strong verbal and written communication, teamwork, relationship building, and follow-up skills;

  • Demonstrated ability or ability to develop exceptional presentation and public speaking skills;

  • Strong questioning, listening, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills;

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting excellence in nursing practice and patient-centered care.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and lead change initiatives;

  • Skilled in using MS Office applications, Zoom, and Learning Management Systems;

  • Strong knowledge of nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement methodologies and Program coordination experience.

  • RN License in the State of NY required;

  • Certification in Nursing Professional Development preferred.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $107,224 - $160,846 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
