Job Description:

The RN is responsible for assessing and monitoring the cardiac patients during the stress tests and clinical visits in the cardiology department.

Office Visits:

1. Obtain weights, height, blood pressure, heart rate, and ekg as indicated, along with all meaningful use criteria on each patient and document in the electronic record.

2. Review and document patients' medications in electronic record

3. Review and populate as necessary the patient's medical and surgical history in the electronic record

4. Patient education including but not limited to cardiac medications, diet, exercise, and procedure

5. Phlebotomy

6. Report any issues to cardiologist

7. Assist with organizing patient flow in department

For Nuclear stress testing/echo stress testing:

1. Using universal protocol, ensure correct test is scheduled per order placed in electronic record.

2. Maintains current knowledge base on nuclear medicine theory- radiation safety and advanced cardiology principles.

3. Provide patient care which includes initial assessment, set up, assessment-and monitoring throughout stress testing procedures.

4. Provide education and ensure patient understanding at initiation of test.

5. Report any abnormalities to interpreting cardiologist

6. Complete testing template per testing protocol in electronic record and route to interpreting cardiologist.

7. Demonstrate proficiency in establishing intravenous lines.

Salary Range:

$36.37-$45.43

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements:

Minimum recent 2 years RN expertise in an acute care setting.

BS in Nursing preferred. Licensed by New York State to practice as a Registered Nurse. Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare providers preferred).
