Position Information

This individual is responsible for the management and implementation of all aspects of the Early Academic Outreach Program as related to participants who are interested in attending a community college (100%). Provides pre-college services to approximately 1000 students and their parents at high schools serviced by the Early Academic Outreach Program. Conceptualizes, develops, and implements program services required by EAOP Systemwide and the UC Riverside campus. Provides advising, supervision, and instruction to high school student participants to help them develop academic skills that will enable them to attend a community college directly after high school. Serves as the primary contact for the Early Academic Outreach program participants who are interested in attending a community college in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Serves as the EAOP resource person for high school personnel on matters related to students' post-secondary preparation. Works collaboratively with other College Readiness programs such as the Office of TRIO Programs; develop relationships with other campus offices such as Educational Talent Search, UCR Office of Admissions, Office of Financial Aid, Career Center, Learning Center, and others. Participates in the identification of students who are not on track to attend a four-year university after high school or have decided to attend a community college directly after high school graduation, selection, and training of the University Mentors. Assists the Director in making decisions regarding allocations of funds for implementation of program services to meet program objectives. In the absence of the Director, with consultation from the Executive Director, will provide oversight of services as they pertain to EAOP participants matriculating to a community college.

The salary range for the Transfer Liaison position is $54,200.00 - $63,950.00 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $63,950.00 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Strong knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.

Strong knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population.

Significant experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.

Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.

Strong knowledge of up-to-date information on K-12 and higher education policies and issues. Ability to assess their impact on program strategies.

Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first generation urban youth.

Ability to establish and maintains cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.

Strong communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the California Community College Higher Educational System, its admission requirements and outreach services.
