Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Machinery Engineer through June 10th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (PDT).

The Machinery Engineer position is part of the Richmond Refinery’s Reliability &; Integrity organization and reports to the Reliability and Machinery Engineering Team Lead. The team consists of 10-12 reliability and machinery engineers and is a key contributor in achieving the refinery’s goals of safe and reliable operation.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Work to detect and prevent machinery failure through the use of predictive and preventative techniques.

  • Develop bad actor resolutions, repair and maintenance strategies, and design alternatives that address health, safety, environmental, reliability, operability, and maintainability issues.

  • Improve technical tools and work processes.

  • Ensure rotating equipment records are documented accurately and completely with emphasis on root cause identification, scope of repairs, and detailed records of internal or external inspections.Ensure engineering design adheres to Refinery, industry, regulation, and Corporate specifications.

  • Consider Total Cost of Ownership when selecting new equipment, components, or support systems.

  • Provide support to Maintenance, Technical and Operations personnel on critical field jobs, and manage these jobs or their critical parts as needed.Provide support to Maintenance, Technical and Operations personnel on development and review of machinery repair checklists, preventive or predictive maintenance checklists, and maintenance or operating procedures as necessary.

  • Effectively use the Incident & Investigation Reporting system to identify behavior and work process improvement opportunities, root causes, and effective corrective actions that will help eliminate incidents and injuries.

  • Support the Rotating Equipment Re-work, Spare Run, and Kit-box Restocking processes.

  • Lead machinery root cause failure analysis efforts using support tools such as 5-Why and Taproot.

  • Use in advanced machinery monitoring techniques and systems to support condition based and predictive monitoring of rotating machinery (System1, Adre, compressor performance modeling etc.)

  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of TAs, both planned and unplanned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Data Science

  • 5+ years of experience in a complex process facility such as a refinery

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vibration Institute CATII or equivalent

  • 10+ years of experience in a complex process facility such as a refinery

Relocation Options:

Expatriate assignments may be considered for candidates already living in the United States.

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $ 114,500 – $ 261,500. The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.

  • This role is located at the Richmond Refinery and follows a 4-10 work schedule. This position is eligible to earn compensatory time; in accordance with Manufacturing policy during exceptional work periods such as turnaround support and significant unplanned events.

  • This position is located at the Chevron Richmond Refinery, in the San Francisco Bay Area. Richmond Refinery has literally fueled Northern California for over 110 years. Many folks living in the Bay Area remark on the natural beauty of the surrounding areas, temperate year-round weather, and fabulous weekend trips. The Bay Area is home to some of California greatest attractions. There are world class cultural centers (nearby San Francisco, Los Angeles within driving distance or short flight), scenic beaches (Monterrey, Santa Cruz, Marin), world renown epicurean centers (San Francisco, Napa, Berkeley), more than a million acres of protected land (National Parks: Yosemite, Point Reyes; State Parks and Regional Parks) and hiking and skiing in California Sierra Nevada mountains only a few hours away.
