NORTHWOOD TECH RICE LAKE CAMPUS Public Safety Simulation Specialist in RICE LAKE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a part-time/LTE Public Safety Simulation Specialist at the Rice Lake Campus. This position is funded by a 4-year grant (February 28, 2027), Education and Support for Triaging and Accelerating Training in Rural Healthcare (EduSTAT in Rural Healthcare). The Public Safety Simulation Specialist is responsible for the daily technical operations and creating scenarios for simulations at the Immersive Interactive room in Rice Lake. The Specialist maintains simulators and support equipment, troubleshoots problems with simulators and support systems, and performs preventative maintenance and repair of simulators and related technology in the simulation environment. Understand the use and operation of different simulation technologies and educational software used in the Immersive Interactive room, ranging from high fidelity mannequins, advanced procedural task trainers, basic task trainers, and related medical equipment necessary to provide a highly immersive training environment. Develop technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and repair of all simulation equipment in the Immersive Interactive room. Create custom scenarios for use in the simulation room. Prepare the facility, mannequins, audiovisual systems, and equipment for training sessions; clean up and reset equipment after educational sessions. Operate and interact with audiovisual equipment used during live simulation-based training. Assist with installing and configuring hardware and software updates provided by vendors. Assist in researching equipment and supply vendors and upgrading simulation equipment and supplies. Assist with the organization of equipment and supplies in storerooms. Monitor equipment performance, safety, and certification. Perform routine, preventive maintenance of equipment (according to manufacturers\' recommendations) and repairs to ensure that equipment is operational. Maintain and troubleshoot problems with simulators, the AV system, and support equipment. Serve as a point of contact and interface with equipment manufacturers to maintain functionality, repair equipment, and fix system problems; maintain a record of repairs. Serve as a resource and assist with training instructors and staff in the use of simulation equipment. Keep abreast with new developments in simulation technology. Support other simulation sessions, trainings, tours, and events for internal and external groups and/or individuals. Assist with monitoring and tracking of utilization statistics for events and training for the Immersive Interactive room in Rice Lake. Coordinate and collaborate with Public Safety, Instructional Technology and other collegewide staff, as relevant. Other duties as assigned. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Degree & Experience Required: Associate\'s degree (or 2 years Post-Secondary Education) in related field OR Equivalent* Four years related work experience *Equivalent educational/occupational experience may be a high school diploma plus 7 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
