Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Delivery Team is a newly formed group focused on delivering various platform services to our global AI customers. This role will require deep partnership throughout all of Microsoft as these programs will be on the leading edge of innovation and will include driving pilots and other experiments that shape our ongoing commitment to deliver AI platform services rapidly at cloud scale. We are part of Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I), the team behind one of the world’s largest cloud infrastructures, responsible for powering all Microsoft online products and services as well as powering Microsoft’s “Cloud First” mission. CO+I is focused on growth, efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide.

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager to manage critical AI Infrastructure deployment projects, deliver GPU-specific data center retrofit services, and drive related continuous improvement projects. You will deliver through ambiguity, fosters collaboration, and build trusted partnerships, and balance delivery and scaling.

Responsibilities

Analysis of Customer and Business Signals

  • Collects and analyzes data on consumers, alternative solutions, and the marketplace.

  • Provides insights and recommendations to support decision-making.

  • Conducts research, competitive analyses, and examines trends.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify patterns and generate hypotheses.

  • Works towards aligning customer needs with business goals and strategy.

Product/Service Definition

  • Designs architecture and integrated solutions: Collaborates with Software and Hardware Engineering to create technical solutions for complex needs across multiple feature areas. Proposes design documents and selects optimal options.

  • Goal-setting and prioritization: Translates organizational needs into program goals and prioritized deliverables. Manages risks using data analysis.

  • Performance measurement: Defines success criteria and performance metrics for feature areas. Ensures telemetry development and communicates return on investment to stakeholders.

Product/Service Development

  • Relationship-building and coordination: Collaborates with internal teams and external partners to drive efforts for large, complex projects. Ensures alignment on product management, tradeoffs, and improvements.

  • Roadmap contribution and technical expertise: Partners with the engineering team to prioritize and deliver on feature area roadmaps. Understands value propositions and addresses technical queries.

  • Project scheduling and risk management: Tracks and communicates project schedules, monitors processes, and manages dependencies. Adjusts course when needed.

  • Implementation planning and monitoring: Contributes to piloting/release plans aligned with OKRs and KPIs. Collaborates with stakeholders to monitor progress.

  • Governance and quality assurance: Ensures compliance with performance standards throughout the development lifecycle.

Product/Service Performance

  • Data-driven insights: Collaborates with cross-functional teams to collect and analyze performance metrics (e.g., KPIs) for feature areas. Derives insights to improve development and implementation.

  • Customer support and documentation: Enhances customer support experience by providing troubleshooting guidelines and best practices. Monitors product usage and investigates live-site incidents.

  • Technical evangelism: Educates customers through meetings and presentations. Gathers feedback and supports sales enablement.

  • Business engagement: Participates in strategic partnerships and collaborates across multiple stakeholder teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years’ experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years’ experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
