Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Manager II in Redmond, Washington

The Trusted Platform team seeks a Technical Program Manager II to join our Geo Expansion function. Trusted Platform is responsible for Azure public and AI global region expansion by enabling Azure services buildouts which in turn enables new Azure regions to go live. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing cross-functional initiatives and supporting the rapid scaling of our existing public and AI Azure regions, specifically focusing on pre-buildout activities which are pre-requisites to services buildout.

Your responsibilities will encompass coordinating with various teams, analyzing data, and driving buildout ‘prep’ improvements to ensure seamless services buildout as well as buildout acceleration and flexibility. As part of a critical function, you will contribute to vital engineering decisions, working to capture and analyze all necessary inputs.

Responsibilities

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of existing pre-buildout activities and how these activities affect and gate the ability to start a new Azure region buildout.

  • Identify and analyze opportunities to mature existing pre-buildout activities through automation (e.g. triggers and standard workflows) resulting in cycle-time reductions targeted towards improved flexibility and enabling faster time to buildout start.

  • Working across the Azure Foundational Services landscape, identify services pre-buildout activities that should be incorporated into the broader services buildout prep program.

  • Investigate the ability to pre-prep regions to completely remove pre-buildout activities from critical path.

  • Represent the buildout prep program in various executive and working-level forums.

  • Conduct business case analyses to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts in the buildout prep space.

  • Contribute to cultivating an inclusive work environment in alignment with Microsoft values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 1+ year(s) experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 1+ year(s) experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

  • Experience working with global teams and managing projects with international scope

  • Knowledge of Azure services and infrastructure

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, data center operations, or related fields

  • Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate diverse teams

  • Experience with data analysis, data visualizations and modeling using technologies like T-SQL, Power BI (DAX query), Kusto

  • Proven experience in technical program management, with a focus on complex, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Analytical skills, with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to support decision-making processes.

  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities, enabling you to work across various teams and levels of an organization.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity in the workplace.

Technical Program Management IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
