​​We are hiring a Software Engineer II to join the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Platform team. The AI Platform organization at Microsoft builds the end-to-end Azure AI stack/PaaS and is core to Azure’s innovation and differentiation, as well as all of Microsoft’s flagship products, from Office to Teams, to Xbox. We are the team building Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning (ML), Cognitive Services, and the global Azure AI infrastructure for running the largest AI workloads on the planet. Within AI Platform, the Cognitive Services team empowers developers and data scientists around the world and of all skill levels to easily add AI capabilities to their apps.

We are a dynamic and innovative team at the forefront of cutting-edge technology, dedicated to delivering AI solutions. Our Azure AI Language team is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer II to join us in revolutionizing Natural Language Processing (NLP) services (on Azure and On Prem).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy high-performance NLP services on Azure.

  • Implement and optimize algorithms for language understanding, sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, and other NLP tasks.

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of Azure AI Language services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency.

  • Work on integrating AI models into a cloud-based environment, considering performance, security, and compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and other engineers to deliver innovative and customer-focused solutions.

  • Develop and maintain full-stack applications that interface with Azure AI Language services, ensuring a seamless user experience.

  • Design and implement user interfaces, APIs, and backend services for AI-driven applications.

  • Provide live site support, addressing and resolving issues related to the production environment

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience in full-stack development, including front-end and back-end technologies

  • Experience with building and deploying production-grade NLP services at scale.

  • Knowledge of distributed computing, microservices architecture, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices for continuous integration and deployment.

  • Ability to stay updated on the latest advancements in NLP and AI technologies

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
