The Gameplay Systems team is looking for a Software Engineer II to help build the engine and systems that power a diverse set of Minecraft gaming experiences over a dozen platforms. As a Software Engineer in this area, you will define architecture, evaluate requirements, estimate development, and integrate high quality features into our products. You will be responsible for empowering our internal developers and our creator community to deliver great experiences to our players.

You will work with peers across disciplines (Dev, Design, Production, and Quality) to build robust features on a predictable schedule. Identifying technological opportunities for improvements will be critical in the accomplishment of the role. Ideal candidates will be able to collaborate with and guide other engineers to deliver features.

Responsibilities

  • Design solutions for systems which result in simple, extensible, and maintainable high-quality code.

  • Effective communicator who can reach outcomes through collaboration across disciplines.

  • Uses technical knowledge of the product design and code to identify risks and prevent classes of bugs.

  • Builds an understanding of customer needs to inform design and implementation decisions.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

o OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C++ with an understanding of the architecture of modern game engines (component-based, event-driven, etc.).

Experience with designing, programming, and debugging in two or more areas with domain expertise.

o OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
