Microsoft Corporation Senior Technical Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation team (CO+I) is the team behind Microsoft’s Cloud infrastructure and is responsible for innovating, planning designing, building and operating one of the largest datacenter fleets in the world. We support product teams by providing secure, compliant, cost efficient and highly available global infrastructure that Microsoft’s customers depend on.

To keep up with rapidly changing customer and business demands, we are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager who can lead complex changes to our global infrastructure in partnership with business and engineering stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, with attention to detail, has an ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and a desire to help shape the overall business. You will lead multiple simultaneous large-scale initiatives with a balance of technical leadership and business judgement.

You must be solution-oriented with an analytical mindset. You must have the ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups to develop creative engineering solutions to drive changes in our complex and rapidly growing Cloud Infrastructure. Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of strategic initiatives within the CO+I as well as across the Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (C+AI) division, leveraging results-oriented, metrics-driven programmatic approach​

  • Develop and maintain a long-term program roadmap in collaboration with technical subject matter experts, mitigating risks including technology shifts, industry or market constraints, and cost/pricing pressures​

  • Guide teams through the development of frameworks, methodologies & technical solutions that improve resiliency, availability and security of our infrastructure while enabling competitive growth

  • Manage dependencies across multiple work streams to identify potential risk areas through data-focused analysis and identify mitigation actions

  • Advance CO+I’s Program Management (PM) capability by evaluating and improving program management capabilities and encouraging and applying PM best practices across the organization

  • Drive simplification and automation to evolve processes, services, and solutions that increase agility, efficiencies and lower costs

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 2+ years of experience leading large-scale projects and achieving results in midst of ambiguity and across multiple organizations.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean, Business Process Management Professional, Change Management (e.g., Prosci), Six Sigma, and/or Agile certifications.

  • Creative problem-solving & analytical skills to drive insights and understand root causes combined with a “sense of urgency” to develop solutions

  • Previous experience with advanced data analytics & modeling a big plus

  • Previous experience in datacenter infrastructure management a plus.

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
