Amazon Senior Supplier Manufacturing Engineer , Project Kuiper Machine Shop in Redmond, Washington

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

Key job responsibilities

The Kuiper team is looking for a Supplier Manufacturing Engineer to support business and engineering stakeholders in developing, implementing and monitoring manufacturing processes/controls within our supply base. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record working with a global supply base on scaling manufacturing in order to achieve business needs. Experience working in new and ambiguous environments while solving complex problems with a broad range of cross functional stakeholders will be an advantage.

• Responsible for supplier readiness to support Kuiper production needs including capital equipment and tooling needs.

• Own continuity of supply, quality, reliability, and cost targets.

• Collaborate with engineers to gain an in-depth knowledge of parts/assemblies.

• Support Global Category Managers to strategically source parts matched with supplier competencies by reviewing and assessing supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems.

• Conduct independent research to identify potential new sources and suppliers, and useful new capabilities in manufacturing.

Export Control Requirements

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

A day in the life

The Supplier Manufacturing Engineer will dive deep into the supplier manufacturing processes, identify areas with waste/opportunities, and help guide the supplier through process improvements to ensure they yield a high-quality product at the right cost every time in order to enable Kuiper objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality, supply chain or operations

  • 5+ years of experience developing, implementing and monitoring manufacturing processes and controls at suppliers

  • Excellent at creating and maintaining working relationships across all levels and disciplines, receptive to feedback and input from others, and quick to apply changes.

  • Work with internal subject matter experts to gather information, synthesize business and technical concepts, build strategic business metrics, and write original content that drives decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
