Microsoft Corporation Senior Quality Engineer in Redmond, Washington

As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for experienced engineers with a dedicated passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join the team.

Responsibilities

  • Spare Quality Continuity of Supply Support and Management.

  • Ensuring the quality performance of either products or suppliers.

  • Work experience with component manufactures and servers manufactures suppliers.

  • Collaborate with internal counterparts, engineering teams and suppliers to monitor performance, resolve technical issues and drive technical improvements.

  • Influence x-functional partners and suppliers to ensure KPIs and metrics are met.

  • Work to enhance quality and yields/metrics, process control, critical issue management, and risk analysis and reduction at both supplier and data center.

  • Sustaining Management: Receive the product after introduction and control quality from growth to end of life product lifecycle phases.

  • Quality Risk management: Effectively manage quality issues and risks by containing, mitigating, and resolving top-quality issues affecting global data centers.

  • Supplier Quality Management & Control: Implement a robust supplier quality management strategy to ensure the highest quality standards in data center hardware manufacturing.

  • Continuous Improvement: Work with internal counterparts and suppliers to develop strategies to continuously improve products and processes.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years relevant technical engineering experience

  • o OR Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience

  • o OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience

  • o OR Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience.

Other Qualifications:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in leading large-scale taskforce.

  • 10+ years of working experience in product quality discipline in Electronics Industry.

  • Experience at DFM. Preferably in OEM/ODM/CM industry

  • Deep understanding of PCB, PCBA and server assembly process

  • Demonstrated experience as natural leader of cross functional teams in a fast-paced environment is essential.

  • Experience in product quality, reliability, or product engineering for PCB, PCBA and Electronic assembly & Servers.

  • Solid understanding of quality tools such as 8D, CLCA, SPC, Pareto charts, FMEA, GR&R, FAI, CPK, PPAP etc.

  • Familiar with measurements, ability to identify program NUDD, product CTQ & process CTP.

  • Familiar with metrics control, for example FPY, LRR and VLRR

Reliability Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
