Microsoft Corporation Senior Finance Manager - Energy in Redmond, Washington

The Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization (MSIO) team is an exciting and fast-evolving finance team at the forefront of Microsoft’s cloud-first strategy. We are looking to hiring a Senior Finance Manager - Energy to assist us in this critical work.

The Cloud Infrastructure Strategy, Planning & Delivery (CISPD) team’s charter is to build out and operate Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure while driving down unit cost of capacity, ensuring cloud services achieve gross margin growth and share expansion. As a crucial member of the team you’ll provide financial leadership supporting long-term, strategic energy initiatives across our worldwide portfolio of data centers.

Responsibilities

This role requires a high degree of agility and skill in navigating multiple stakeholder requirements while enabling the accelerated growth aspirations for the business in market environment. To be successful, the individual needs to be highly collaborative, self-motivated and be curious in learning.

  • Business partnership: Act as a strategic and trusted advisor to the data center energy leaders to influence business direction, operational support, and investment models in energy.

  • Analytical: Model and analyze key strategic drivers to influence and drive future year planning decisions and strategic activities, specifically in relation to data center energy consumption, energy costs, and energy infrastructure.

  • Finance rhythms of business: Coordinate budget, forecasts, Long Range Planning (LRP) and monthly close, in alignment with corporate and MSIO timelines for data center energy. Communicate required deliverables clearly and facilitate reviews with leaders in a timely manner.

  • Controls and compliance: Ensure monthly financial results are stated accurately and in accordance with company policies. Ensure adequate internal controls are in place.

  • Process improvement: Continuously improve processes to drive automation, efficiency, prioritization, and cross team collaboration.

  • Collaborate with manager to identify high impact projects that will drive business success and align to your personal development goals.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

  • OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling and analysis. Experience in influencing decisions and developing strategic plans.

  • Proven ability to drive projects and analysis to closure in a collaborative and matrixed environment

  • Expertise in financial planning and analysis, including: analysis, forecasting, planning, reporting, and developing financial models.

  • Solid written and verbal communications translating financial analysis and insights into meaningful and actionable business communications and recommendations

Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
