Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind one of the world’s largest Cloud Infrastructures, responsible for powering all Microsoft online Products and Services as well as powering Microsoft’s “Cloud First” mission. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide, and we are looking for a passionate, high-energy detail-oriented Senior Director CO+I AI Delivery Program Controls to help achieve that mission.

You should be an experienced technical program manager with deep technical and business expertise, extraordinary leadership and demonstrated large-scale technical program management success. You should have exceptional industry knowledge, technical depth in delivery execution, and have the executive presence to lead complex and time sensitive initiatives. 

The CO+I AI Delivery team is a newly formed group focused on delivering various platform services to our global AI customers. This role will require deep partnership throughout all of Microsoft as these programs will be on the leading edge of innovation and will include driving pilots and other experiments that shape our ongoing commitment to deliver AI platform services on schedule. In this role you will lead a team that will be required to establish clear metrics, develop technical engineering requirements for process automation, drive down variation across key deployment milestones, drive accountability across partner organizations, remove roadblocks to keep programs on schedule, organize, track and deliver the hundreds of specific projects that make up an AI platform delivery service. In this role you will be directly accountable for specific AI delivery schedules from signal, through construction, all the way to service live and leverage resources throughout the company to deliver to the expectations of the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning and scheduling efforts to establish accurate delivery commitments for the customer.

  • Work seamlessly across various program teams to build a holistic view of the AI platform execution roadmap.

  • Lead integration across a wide range of stakeholder teams to ensure aligned planning to meet program goals.

  • Influence design standards for cluster deployment execution programs throughout our server portfolio.

  • Establish and strengthen the rhythm of business for managing program execution across global regions.

  • Lead mitigation planning efforts to ensure performance to plan.

  • Partner with finance and supply chain organizations to ensure accurate capital spending, budgets, headcount.

  • Manage program communications throughout executive levels.

  • Create world-class OKRs that drive the organization's performance.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 8+ years of experience delivering multi-year technology projects at scale.

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering disciplines centered on cloud technologies.

  • 5+ years of experience in data center or network operations

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • MBA with a technology undergraduate degree.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex challenges, and operate in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Combination of server, network, and datacenter operations background.

  • Construction program management across a complex datacenter landscape.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence senior level cross functional teams

  • Professional PM certification, CNAA, ACMA, VCTA-NV, JNCIA

  • or equivalent

  • Experience setting up, building and maintaining global production schedules

  • Experience starting large analytic projects and collaborating with teams across global functions

  • Experience solving complex architectural problems and influencing designs at the source.

  • Experience in building teams to deploy new technologies at scale.

Technical Program Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $158,500 - $276,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,800 - $304,200 per year.
