As a Research Chemist at Meta, in our Optics & Display Research group (O&DR), you will play a critical role in developing AR/VR systems. You will focus on developing advanced materials, process and devices for near eye displays, and will become part of a team exploring novel concepts through design, modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. We are seeking someone who works well in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, who communicates complex concepts clearly and succinctly, who demonstrates scientific rigor, who is unafraid to tackle new challenges, and who works well in high-ambiguity discovery phases. Research Chemist Responsibilities:

1. Take a critical role in developing/identifying new materials and process for AR/VR systems.

2. Design, synthesis, and characterization of organic small molecules and their solid-state phases for optics and optoelectronics systems.

3. Develop and implement research agenda, apply high standards to the research and develop an ability to identify highly impactful projects in a complete and unexplored domain.

4. PhD or equivalent experience in Organic Chemistry or a related field.

5. 1+ year's experience in Organic Chemistry, Optics, AR/VR, or a related industry.

6. Experience with small molecular organo-electronics and opto-electronics.

7. Experience with. NMR, LC/MS, GC/MS, UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy, Fluorometry, Cyclovoltammetry, single crystal XRD.

8. Experience solving analytical problems using analytic and quantitative approaches.

9. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
