Microsoft Corporation Principal Technical Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

To keep up with rapidly changing customer and business demands, CO+I is looking for an experienced Principal Technical Program Manager who can lead complex changes to our global infrastructure in partnership with business and engineering stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity, possess a keen attention to detail, comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, and desire to help shape the overall business. You will lead multiple simultaneous large-scale initiatives with a balance of technical leadership and effective business judgement. Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of strategic initiatives within the Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) organization and across the Cloud and AI (C+AI) division, leveraging results-oriented, metrics-driven programmatic approach.

  • Develop and maintain a long-term program roadmap, mitigating risks including technology shifts, industry or market constraints, and cost/pricing pressures.

  • Guide teams through the development of problem statements, frameworks and methodologies to address crucial business, customer or market opportunities.

  • Orchestrate efforts to define and implement recommended solutions on large cross-functional projects with internal teams and external partners, holding teams accountable to achieve desired outcomes throughout the program lifecycle (e.g., quality, compliance, security, safety, sustainability, time-to-market).

  • Advance CO+I’s program management (PM) capability by evaluating, improving, encouraging, and applying PM best practices across the organization.

  • Drive simplification and automation to evolve processes, services, and solutions, to increase agility and efficiencies while lowering costs.

  • Develop and coach a world-class program management team that successfully delivers complex, impactful, visible infrastructure projects and programs

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 3+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

The ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 8+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • Proficiency in use of process improvement methodology (ex. Lean, Six Simga, and DMAIC-Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control).

  • Experience in successfully working with both technical and business subject matter experts across multiple organizational levels.

  • Proven ability to define customer-focused scenarios, author business cases and track value realization, and drive keen insights and identify opportunities to develop solutions.

  • Previous experience in data analytics/modeling and datacenter infrastructure management.

Technical Program Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
