Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our organization to develop Supply Chain platform solutions that power Cloud and Devices supply chains for Microsoft. We are building solutions that give Microsoft the ability to succeed in an ever-changing business environment. We are looking for an engineer to push this architecture further and innovate in the areas of customer experience, sustainability, integrative Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation of our processes and systems, data driven solutions, while continuously improving operational excellence (security, resiliency, scalability, costs). Successful candidates will have in-depth technical experience with SAP supply chain planning solutions. They should be able to combine their technical skills with enthusiasm, ingenuity, results-orientation, and ability in working with the rest of the team.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Software Engineer, you are responsible for the following:

  • Lead engineering of solution design of our integrated business planning processes (specifically SAP IBP S&OP, IBP Demand Planning, IBP Inventory, IBP Response and Supply) ensuring they are always positioned to drive high-quality, reliable, systems enablement.

  • Champion modern engineering practices (Agile, Live Site, Telemetry, backlog grooming, etc.) and help evolve customer experience and value.

  • Partner with peers on system performance, capacity management and scalability to ensure sustained service stability, SLAs and Business KPIs.

  • Own SOX and Security Compliance for all relevant services. -Work closely with a team of highly capable software engineers and product managers.

  • Provide oversight into technical decisions and deliver highly efficient and scalable solutions.

  • Execute flawlessly

  • Big Bet project releases, Product Launches, and other moments of truth.

  • Partner with Solution Owners, Business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, SWE, SE in analyzing requirements, analyzing impacts, proposing designs, fleshing these out to detailed designs, and finally driving the designs to completion through feature Team. 

  • Engage with business process units and work closely with upstream and downstream application owners to effectively build a ‘trusted advisor’ relationship with these teams through consistent on-time, on-budget delivery.

  • Drive service improvements through focus on automation and technical debt reduction.

  • Influence and communicate a long-term technical vision/roadmap for your area.

  • Raising the engineering bar on design/code/process quality with technical leadership and engineering excellence.

  • Coaching and mentorship of fellow team members. 

  • Drive initiatives across team and organizational boundaries to rive clarity and alignment.

  • Research and stay updated with the latest industry best practices, SAP best practices, SAP product capabilities, and experiment with cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation.

  • Help solve large business problems at scale with technology. You will be responsible for end to end deliverables with a high degree of visibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in configuring/developing end to end SAP supply chain planning solutions (SAP IBP/APO) OR equivalent experience.

  • Extensive experience in supply chain planning domain.

Other Qualifications

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in configuring/developing end to end SAP supply chain planning solutions (SAP IBP/APO) OR equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of relevant enterprise software design and SAP configuration experience with focus on IBP/APO modules such as S&OP, Demand and Response & Supply, Business Network Collaboration (IBP/Ariba), Cloud Platform Integration (CI-DS), Smart Data Integration (SDI), Real-Time Integration (RTI) and Core Interface (CIF)

  • 6+ years’ of experience in developing high scale, distributed systems in a cloud environment.

  • Technical implementation knowledge in Integrations with ECC or S/4 Hana, Ariba and other internal/external systems. 

  • Lead project development across the organizations and work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to drive development and release plans. 

  • Demonstrate depth of knowledge and understanding of software architecture, design tradeoffs, and practices of DevOps culture. 

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
