Microsoft Corporation Medium Term Planning Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft’s Cloud business is experiencing explosive growth, and the Cloud Supply Chain (CSCP) organization is responsible for enabling the infrastructure underlying this growth. Our mission is to deliver the world’s computer with an industry-leading supply chain. CSCP is responsible for strategic sourcing, customer demand forecasting, capacity planning and management, supply chain planning and execution, capacity provisioning, and decommissioning and dispositioning of datacenter assets worldwide.

The Medium Term Planning Program Manager will help:

  • Lead overall Azure capacity plan development, while impacting customer capacity availability and the bottom line cost. It is a role that has the rare opportunity to span across all service offerings at Microsoft.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planners in different resource types to develop a capacity plan that meets customer needs, while maintaining compliance to supply and execution policies, throughput capacities and contractual requirements.

  • Providing a clear and prioritized signal to the end to end execution teams

  • Own the relationship with the supply chain and execution team. Set flexibility and throughput targets, while also comprehending and incorporating their capabilities and constraints.

  • Optimizing the plan for availability, revenue and cost.

  • Partner with engineering-specific planners, supply chain, finance, data center operations, cloud server hardware, S&OP and networking teams to ensure all functions act in alignment with common goals.

  • Envision and drive core measures as outputs from the group, as well as key input measures from other teams.

  • Apply advanced analytics concepts toward rich insights and key financial and strategic decisions.

  • Develop a prioritization framework across strategic projects, customer needs, risks and capacities and can solve for cost and other tradeoffs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Technology (IT), Business, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Data Science, or related field AND 4+ years supply chain, inventory management or sales operations experience, preferably in planning (demand/supply/forecasting), cloud industry experience, infrastructure, data science, and/or channel management experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years' experience with cross functional coordination, including experience partnering with data scientists, developers, and program managers to drive continual improvement

  • Leadership: You need to lead cross-functional teams on complex projects with many variables.

  • Supply Chain Experience: Experience in planning, forecasting, designing or analyzing supply chain challenges

  • Generating clarity: This is one of the most important aspects of what we do. Our job is to align everyone on the same plan and keep them there. This requires constant communication and diligence to squash any ambiguity.

  • Bl, Metrics and Analytics: Are you able to identify themes and learnings out of data? Define the essence of a function and measure its success? Provide KPI that are clear to understand and can drive decision making.

  • Communications and Influencing: Can you build relationships and influence people - from execs to individuals, across business and technical disciplines? Are you equally adept at leading cross¬ functional meetings or building rapport and personal connection in 1:1 conversation

  • Significant analytical depth supported by experience with several of the following: SQL; advanced Excel modeling; statistical tool kits such as R, MiniTab, or SAS; data-lakes; Kusto; PowerBI. Proven experience analyzing data, then aggregating and visualizing it for executive audiences.

  • Technical fluency including basic understanding of Cloud concepts: large scale platforms, distributed services, hardware, and data centers

Demand Planning IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
