The successful candidate will be motivated and detail-oriented while showing the highest standards of responsibility and ability to collaborate with colleagues. The ability to provide technical guidance is a definite asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate complex schematic diagrams based upon system requirements

  • Work with PCB CAD tools for simulations and layout.

  • Quickly understand concepts and extract key requirements in RF/EE applications.

  • Circuit-board-level design of a variety of RF blocks or systems in the 5GHz ISM band, for ultimate use in consumer electronics products incorporating wireless power capabilities.

  • Provide guidance in the selection of PCB material and stack-up.

  • Provide floor planning and layout support to the PCB designer.

  • Root cause analysis and mitigation in bring up of newly designed PCBs.

  • Provide technical critique of designs created by other engineers.

  • This is a hands-on position with characterization and validation activities performed in a lab.

  • May work independently or in small teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant hardware design experience, including product development.

  • A proven track record of taking products from concept through to volume production. Knowledge of the new product development process and best practices to create a quality design while working within schedule and cost constraints.

  • Experienced in the design of schematics and PCBs.

  • Knowledge of RF design techniques using commercial ICs.

  • Knowledge of the design of RF transmitters and receivers along with commonly used components used in the >2GHz frequency band (e.g. amplifiers, filters, VCO’s, etc.).

  • Familiarity with common test equipment in the evaluation of RF circuits and systems (e.g. spectrum analyzers, high speed oscilloscopes, and vector network analyzers).

  • An understanding of RF design best practices to minimize RF losses and maximize RF isolation; RF transmission line (both microstrip and strip line) design experience.

  • Knowledge of antenna design principles and tradeoffs.

  • Understanding of how to design for low cost, manufacturability, and reliability.

  • Understanding of both theoretical and practical limitations of RF design principles.
