This pivotal role is vital to our supply chain expansion, and we're looking for a leader who can drive success with expertise and innovation.

As a Transportation Operations Manager at our new AutoZone Distribution Center in New Kent, VA, you will oversee private fleet and common carrier services for both inbound and outbound transportation activities. This role involves direct accountability for service excellence and budgetary objectives. You'll lead transportation personnel and manage various aspects like Driver Safety, Maintenance, fuel, systems, and carrier support. The position requires up to 10% travel, offering an exciting mix of on-site engagement and strategic oversight.

• Develop and maintain tailored schedules in collaboration with Routing and Scheduling Analysts, Transportation Managers, and Store Management, focusing on on-time delivery, cost-efficiency, compliance with DOT regulations, and various logistical challenges.

• Effectively manage Class A licensed company drivers and external carriers, overseeing aspects like bids, line hauls, storage, and LP issues to ensure timely handling and returns. You will be responsible for budget adherence and managing vendor relationships and cross-docking activities.

• Lead special projects as directed by the Regional Transportation Manager, including preparing and monitoring essential reports and activities.

• Oversee additional responsibilities including Daily Vehicle Condition Reports, international process examination, seal programs, warranty recovery, and problem resolution.

  Essential Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of proven experience in transportation operations management, preferably in the automotive or related industries

• In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations specific to truck driving and logistics

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
