Your key responsibilities

  • Perform analytical determinations on finished product food and beverage samples with the objective of completely identifying the volatile profile and content of the flavor within the product.

  • Perform quantitative HPLC analyses of select non-volatile taste compounds.

  • Define and perform extraction techniques that allow the volatiles in food products to be extracted in total from the food product and introduced into a medium suitable for GC-MS determination.

  • Define and perform data analysis techniques that allow complex volatiles analysis to be completed.

  • Report analyses in a format that includes a suggested formula and allows the flavorist to create a flavor that can be used in a base similar to the target food product to give similar organoleptic properties.

  • Perform routine maintenance of analytical equipment.

    You bring

  • B.S. or M.S. (preferred) in Analytical Chemistry or Food Science

  • 2-5 years of experience with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis

  • Experience with routine GC-MS equipment maintenance

  • Experience with quantitative HPLC or UPLC analysis and equipment maintenance, desirable. Familiarity with Agilent OpenLab CDS software for HPLC preferred.

  • Experience in flavor analysis preferred
