Educational Testing Service Executive Director - Fundraising in Princeton, New Jersey

Position Summary:

The Skills for the Future Initiative is a joint endeavor of ETS and The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching to radically transform education from time-based to competency-based and to build an undergirding assessment eco-system to capture evidence of what’s most important for success in high school, postsecondary education, and jobs in the 21st-century economy. The joint initiative leverages ETS and Carnegie’s history of excellence in assessment and learning science – and will drive a paradigm shift in education.

The Director of Fundraising will lead Skills for the Future’s efforts to secure financial support from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other sources to advance the goals of the initiative.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successful fundraising, strong leadership skills, and a history of developing and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies across the K12, workforce, and higher education sectors.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement a strategic fundraising plan to achieve significant annual revenue targets and long-term sustainability goals.

Lead and manage all aspects of the fundraising process, including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects.

Identify and cultivate relationships with individual donors, major donors, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources to expand the organization's donor base and revenue streams.

Collaborate with Managing Director senior leadership from ETS and the Carnegie Foundation to align fundraising efforts with the Skills for the Future priorities and programmatic needs.

Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities, track progress against goals, and prepare regular reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.

Stay informed about best practices, trends, and innovations in fundraising and philanthropy, and incorporate new strategies and tactics as appropriate.

Represent the organization externally and nurture relationships with key stakeholders to promote awareness of our mission and impact.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration, communications) required, advanced degree or professional certification in fundraising or related field preferred.

15+ years of experience in fundraising, development, or related roles, with a track record of successfully raising funds and meeting revenue targets.

Record of success with raising dollars to support large scale programs.

Demonstrated leadership experience, including overseeing fundraising teams and leading strategic planning processes.

Exiting relationships with philanthropic leaders as well as other leaders in the K12/higher education/workforce space.

Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to cultivate and steward relationships with donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in writing compelling fundraising appeals, grant proposals, and donor communications.

Proven ability to think strategically, set priorities, and manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Proficiency in fundraising software, donor databases, and other relevant tools and technologies.

Commitment to the initiatives’ mission, values, and ethical standards.
