Fann Contracting, Inc. - Northern Arizona’s leading heavy-civil contractor - is searching for an experienced Asphalt Screed Operator to join our team. This is a full-time, year-round and permanent position with great benefits. Hourly wage may range between $23 to $30 DOE. Candidates must have previous screed/raking experience to apply.

Fann is a Northern Arizona-based contractor celebrating over 60 years of business performing civil, highway, and general construction improvements throughout the State of Arizona. Our projects include public and private entities including ADOT, FHWA, BIA, city and county municipalities, private residential and commercial developments.

  ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Ability to travel throughout the state in your own personal vehicle for work.

• Work a rigorous daily schedule with flexibility to include overtime.

• Operates augers and other equipment to regulate the flow of material at a specified rate.

• Signals/communicates with the paver operator to start and stop the machine.

• Observes, anticipates and adjusts settings on the screed for the distribution of material over road surfaces to ensure quality.

• Will verify asphalt thickness specifications of compacted asphalt.

• Should possess a thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.

• Must also follow safety policies and procedures and monitor the operational condition of the screed, noting unusual noises or vibrations.

• Checks all electrical switches, adjustments and mechanical operations before paving.

  BASIC REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

• Ability to understand and communicate oral and written instructions.

• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors.

• Ability to lift, use ladders, carry, manipulate, load and unload parts and pieces of plant systems up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day, and balance at heights behind guardrails. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly for long shifts and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas, performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.

• Work will be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
