Description

Responsibilities

-Perform a variety of clinical and non clinical tasks to assist the professional medical and nursing staff.

-Provides support to the clinics by maintaining patient flow.

-Documents patient charts promptly using approved VDH format.

-Calls patients to exam rooms; prepares and cleans examinations and keeps pace with the clinicians and nurses.

-Informs senior staff of patients’ condition changes.

-Performs physical measurements on patients in accordance with VDH policies and procedures; performs vision/hearing screenings when appropriate.

-May be required to collect approved specimens under the direct supervision of a licensed Practitioner/Physician.

-Completes cross training when scheduled and demonstrates proficiency in staffing coverage for any assigned work location.

-Orders supplies, maintains levels and stocks exam rooms.

-Operates and maintains lab equipment.

-May be required to perform other duties; may include functions in support of an emergency declaration.

Position Requirements

-Must hold an active Certification from a medical assistant or nursing assistant program.

-At least 1 year experience as a medical/nursing assistant.
