We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Budget Analyst to join our team in the higher education industry on a contract-to-hire basis. As a Budget Analyst, you will play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis to support the strategic goals of our institution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance or accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a passion for higher education.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with department heads and administrators to develop and monitor annual budgets.

  • Prepare budget forecasts, variance analysis, and financial reports to support decision-making processes.

  • Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue enhancement.

  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and funding requests, ensuring alignment with budgetary guidelines.

  • Monitor budget performance against established goals and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

  • Participate in budget planning meetings and provide recommendations for resource allocation.

  • Develop and maintain financial models and tools to facilitate budgeting and forecasting processes.

  • Conduct research and analysis on best practices in budget management and financial planning in the higher education industry.

  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and reports for senior leadership and board meetings.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency in budget management.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in budget analysis, financial planning, or related roles, preferably in the higher education industry.

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools.

  • Knowledge of budgeting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements in higher education.

  • Experience with budgeting software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding of the mission and goals of higher education institutions and a passion for supporting their success.
