University of Maine System Coordinator of Intercultural Student Affairs in Portland, Maine

In support of the University's value of social justice, furthering diversity and creating safe and inclusive learning environments for marginalized/minoritized students, the Coordinator of Intercultural Student Affairs (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WHgmrYBR4JvRt-6aMJVlQ1jwb7-BEEO6/view?usp=sharing) will be responsible for supporting and advocating for historically underrepresented students. The responsibility extends to developing a comprehensive program plan focusing on co-curricular intercultural education and programming for all intercultural students, coordinating diversity and inclusiveness awareness initiatives, and DEIAB community building within the USM campus community. This position will work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and community members to build a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for minoritized students on the three campuses.

This is a full-time position with an annual salary of up to $45,000. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Nights and weekends as needed. This position will be based on our USM Portland Campus (travel to other USM campuses in Portland/Gorham/Lewiston-Auburn may be required, as well as some other in-state travel as necessary).

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of relevant experience to include program development.

  • Demonstrated commitment and knowledge of best practices in the field of diversity and inclusion in higher education.
