Indorama Ventures Mechanical Project Engineer in Port Neches, Texas

Job Description :

Indorama Ventures – Indovinya is currently looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to perform all phases of mechanical related design and engineering services for multiple projects from conception through start-up and serve as a point of contact with client and project team personnel for the civil/structural engineering discipline.

What will be expected from you?

  • Responsible for developing scope of work details for the Mechanical aspects of capital projects including, but not limited to fixed equipment, rotating equipment and piping specifications.

  • Determines applicable code requirements and correctly applies them in the development of calculations or specifications.

  • Project engineer responsible for developing and reviewing datasheets for new equipment procurement.

  • Responsible for project implementation which includes equipment installation, field inspection, problem solving, and start-up assistance.

  • Assists in preparation of project schedules and estimates to define the project plan.

  • Responsible for Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance as it relates to mechanical integrity, engineering design, process safety information, maintenance related procedures and all applicable document retention requirements.

  • Responsible for developing spare parts list for new equipment.

  • Provides written instructions concerning the maintenance and proper operation of project related equipment.

  • Interacts with other engineering disciplines and designers throughout the detail design portion of the project to coordinate overall facility interfaces within the 3D model and other deliverables.

  • Provides technical expertise to the organization and maintains strong client relationships.

  • Provides mentorship to less experienced engineers.

  • Stay up to date and current with all changes in codes and industry standards both at state and national levels.

  • Performs field conditional assessments.

  • Interfaces with on-site and remote cross-functional project teams.

  • Ensure that the activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, as applicable (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality and responsible care requirements).

  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.

  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company required training programs.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering AND minimum of 5 years capital project engineering experience in a petrochemical, refining facility, or commercial/public works environment required.

  • Prior experience in capital project execution for front-end design and detail design project functions desired.

  • Prefer candidates trained in a capital project execution staged gate process.

  • Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft Office tools.

  • Proficient with capital project scheduling practices and ability to understand scheduling systems such as Primavera P6

  • Experience with SAP a plus.

  • Excellent writing/verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Proven analytical thinker with conceptual understanding and ability of applying experiences and knowledge to identify best solutions.

  • Able to solve complex problems and identifying the appropriate resources.

  • Able to build relationships and lead teams from across all organizational lines.

  • Knowledge of sound engineering principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, employee supervision and personnel management.

  • Knowledge of piping and mechanical equipment designs.

  • Experience and understanding of applicable codes and industry standards.
