Job Description: The Commercial Paint Lead assists the Department head in overseeing the project team and ensuring adherence to proper painting procedures, safety protocols, and quality standards. They will also assist in all aspects of vessel painting, including ensuring job-site cleanliness, surface preparation, and application of high-performance preservation coatings.

Duties and Major Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate records of project details, including milestones, paint usage, labor hours, and any issues or deviations encountered during the painting process. Provide regular reports to management.
• Perform surface preparation activities, ensuring thorough cleaning, sanding, and application of primers before painting.
• Apply paint/coatings using air assisted spraying equipment, brush, or roller, including application of various types of non-skid.
• Conduct regular inspections of painted surfaces to ensure high-quality finishes and compliance with specifications.
• Maintain a clean and orderly job-site at all times.
• Manage the maintenance and proper usage of painting equipment. Ensure that equipment is in good working condition.
• Perform work in various locations such as confined spaces, heights, indoor/outdoor environments with exposure to changing weather conditions.
• Maintain positive attitude and professionalism toward workers, subcontractors, and clients.

Education, Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

• Knowledge of paint application fundamentals and advanced professional application technique, consistency, and proficiency.
• Must hold NACE 2 certification or equivalent
• Familiar with setting up scaffolding and tenting off from over-spray and contaminates.
• Understanding of paint formulas and specifications.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings.
• Ability to calculate paint consumption.
• 5+ years paint experience required
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks associated with boat painting.
