SUMMARY

Welsbach Electric Corp. of L.I. is seeking an entry-level Delivery Driver / Warehouse Associate to join our team. The select individual will work under direct supervision and will follow prescribed procedures, handling material, tool and equipment deliveries into and out of the facility. Responsibilities include the proper offloading, receipt, and acceptance of products; verification of the condition and accuracy of goods received; and identification of project assignment. Under direction you will be responsible for the proper distribution of goods to onsite stock locations and off-site job locations. Primary driving responsibilities are as directed and include delivery and procurement of products within Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Duties also include general upkeep of the warehouse, yard and general facility maintenance.

Compensation Range: $16.00/ hour - $19.00/ hour, Full Time, Non-Exempt, Onsite

Other Compensation: This position is bonus eligible

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Proper receipt, inspection and allocation of all deliveries both manually and with equipment

  • Operation of a Fork-Lift vehicle for material handling

  • Proper warehousing and stock disbursement of material and equipment at multiple locations

  • Delivery and pick up to offsite locations as directed utilizing company owned vehicle

  • Responsible for general cleanliness of shop warehouse and yard

  • Responsible for tool distribution and maintenance

  • Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition

  • Follows all safety rules and applicable laws

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-3 Years of driving experience with larger commercial (Non-CDL) vehicles is required

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Valid NYS driver’s license with clean driving record required (CDL preferred).

  • Ability to drive standard transmission vehicles required

  • Ability to read maps required

  • Ability to lift heavy loads (in excess of 60lbs) required

  • Forklift certification preferred

  • Previous warehouse experience a plus

  • Must be able to learn to operate and maintain all company vehicles and equipment in a safe manner at all times

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, packing slips and bills of laden is required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written English communication skills, are required. This includes the ability to write clear and grammatical reports and correspondence as required.

  • Must be timely and reliable and have the ability to work a 40-hour work week and overtime as needed

  • Computer skills a plus

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail are a must

  • Ability to multi-task and relate to a high stress environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel to remote field locations on Long Island.
