Summary: The Billing Supervisor is responsible for leading Duquesne Light's Billing team to ensure accurate and timely billing in accordance with PUC regulations, the approved tariff, and company policy for all customer accounts consisting of residential, commercial, industrial, lighting, and unmetered accounts. The position is responsible for the management of the day-to-day activities of the Billing department including, supporting, and managing the staff, monitoring departmental performance and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all transactions. The position will operate as a subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues by providing direction to the team, implementing best practices, setting operational policies, and maintaining a system of strong internal controls.

Job Responsibilities: Supervise staff and manage day-to-day work assignments. Manage controls, exceptions and billing processes ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of bills to customers. Maintain internal control procedures, enforce policy compliance and report on non-compliance. Act as a key participant and liaison on cross-functional teams impacting customer billing. Coordinate training and cross-training of staff to promote departmental efficiency and staff development. Maintain necessary training materials and departmental procedure manuals. Analyze data and present key performance indicators and metrics to leadership; be able to make decisions based on understanding of data. Responsible for general staff supervision and associated administrative tasks, including the effective administration of and compliance with the collective bargaining agreement. Ensure the effective and timely implementation and testing of all departmental system changes and updates to ensure billing accuracy. Maintain knowledge of all departmental computer systems and assist staff as needed. Develop best practices to improve efficiency of processes, make recommendations to management regarding technology and strategy for improving internal processes that maximize productivity and accuracy. Interact with both internal and external customers including answering questions and handling complaints. Maintain files and documentation in accordance with company and retention policies. Assist in the management of the department budget.

Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related discipline required. Five or more (5+) years of practical billing experience or related customer service experience required. Familiarity with PUC regulations related to billing requirements preferred. Experience at a utility and/or in a bargaining unit environment preferred. Previous leadership experience preferred.

Strong analytical/mathematical skills. Strong written and oral communication skills including writing and editing policies and procedures. Excellent attention to detail and exceedingly well organized. Proficient with Microsoft Excel. Demonstrated ability t lead teams and resolve conflict. Demonstrated knowledge of billing processes and procedures. Ability to interact well with a wide range of people and personalities of all levels. Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines and handle confidential information.

Scope: Primary focus is on day-to-day management of operational execution for areas managed. Trains and develops staff. Plans the workflow. Directs available resources to accomplish process improvement.Leads workflow changes and implementations for direct team.

Decision Impact: Problems and issues are undefined require detailed info gathering, analysis, and investigation to understand/resolve. Makes decisions that address workflow issues considering immediate impact on own function or work unit.

Hybrid Work Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
